Sales Lead Companies Come in Many Forms
Internet lead companies come in different forms and provide different services. Each has its merits and the goal is to use the ones that work the best for you. When it comes to internet generated leads, there are several major types.
The first biggest dividing line is exclusive and non-exclusive leads. With an exclusive lead, it is only sent to one person. With a non-exclusive lead it is sent to multiple people.
Is that all there is to it? No, often when you purchase non-exclusive leads you have the ability to reject the lead. With exclusive, you must accept the lead.
How does this work?
With an exclusive lead the lead company is only sending it to one entity, thus that's their only opportunity to sell it. With a non-exclusive provider they might have six customers that have expressed an interest in receiving leads in a given area. When a lead is generated basic generic information such as the type of product desired, the town, or time frame is sent to all six customers. These customers can then decide if they want to purchase the lead. Once they indicate that, the rest of the information is sent. Non-exclusive leads usually, or should be, less expensive. In addition to price, they offer greater flexibility in that if, based upon the parameters you see, such as a location that is economically depressed making sales harder, you can turn the lead down.
Exclusive Leads
- Your the only one to receive it
- They are more expensive
- You cannot reject the lead
Non-exclusive leads
- Approximately four other people receive it
- They are cheaper
- Usually you can reject the lead prior to receiving all the information
