Driving Traffic to your Site viaThe On Line Medium

The internet presents one of the best mediums for producing sales leads because adjustments can be made quickly. The essential action is to get as many individuals as possible to your site in order to convert those visitors into leads. Not every visitor will produce a lead, in fact in many product lines a conversion of 2 or 3 percent would be considered excellent. That means for every visitor you would realize 3 leads. Thus you need a lot of traffic to effectively produce a good stream of leads.

There are essential four methods to get visitors to your site.

Traditional Advertising; This method entails advertising the existence of your web site through traditional advertising means such as radio or TV. A person would hear the web site from the advertisement and then later on go visit the site. Although this is an effective method it is very expensive and difficult to track as far as ROI is concerned.

The next three methods are more alligned with what we call "search" based lead generation. What this means is that the person already is thinking about the product or service you sell and is now searching for outlets by means of entering relevant key words in a search engine.

Pay Per Click; These are the ads you see generally at the top and along the right hand side after conducting a search. Your placement on the page is determined by how much your willing to pay every time someone clicks on your ad.

Affiliate Traffic; This type of lead is when someone who owns a web site, other than yourself, hosts a banner, or form on that when clicked, or the form is filled out that person is paid for the lead that is generated.

Organic Traffic; Every search engine has an "index" of sites that are returned for a given search. The traffic you receive from this is free and where you rank is based upon a mathematical algorithm.

All three of these methods are good, and all should be employed producing a well rounded approach to getting as much traffic to your site, and producing as many leads as possible. The interesting part though is that most individuals or companies that own web sites spend more time and energy on the paid side of things than on the free organic side.
